media literacy

Language of Persuasion - Beginning

The basic techniques of persuasion are an essential starting point with both adult and young learners who are new to media literacy because they lay the foundation for recognizing more complex persuasion techniques. This kit demonstrates concrete persuasive tools and encourages learners to consider the words, sounds, and images—all examples of the “text”—in a media message. Some of the techniques discussed are Association, Beautiful People, Experts, Humor, Intensity, Plain Folks, Repetition, and Warm and Fuzzy.

Included in the Media Literacy Toolbox DVD-ROM.
