In addition to a computer (Windows, Mac or Linux) you’ll need some additional equipment to display the media examples in a class or group presentation:
You will need powered speakers to amplify the sound of the video and audio clips. For most classrooms or small groups, good quality stand-alone computer speakers should work fine. For larger groups, connect your computer’s audio (headphone) output to a more powerful amplifier/speaker system or P.A.
We recommend using a video projector (also known as an LCD projector) to display the pictures and video clips on a projection screen. Video projectors are available at some libraries and in-school computer labs. For small groups, a large computer monitor may be adequate.
A projection screen or light-colored wall helps to present a bright, readable image.
If your kit includes articles or documents as media examples, you will need a printer (and perhaps a photocopier) to make copies you can hand out.
If your kit includes a website as a media example, learners will need access to computers with Internet access.
